On June 19 of 2021, the 10th International Conference on Industrial Economics, co-hosted by the Center for Research of Private Economy (CRPE), School of Economics, and the Academy of Financial Research (AFR), was successfully held at Zijingang campus, Zhejiang University. This year the conference was composed of the main session and the PhD session, has combined both online and offline platforms. The online conference has attracted more than 100 participants from all over the world.
At the beginning of the conference, Prof. Shiyuan PAN (Director of CRPE, Vice Dean of School of Economics) expressed his warmest welcome to all the visitors in his opening remarks. Last year, the conference was temporarily halted by the Covid-19 pandemic. This year we have overcome all obstacles to host the academic feast as scheduled. Prof. Yongmin CHEN (Chair of the conference, Professor at University of Colorado) then introduced the development history of the International Conference on Industrial Economics, which has now evolved into a reputational academic platform in the world.
In the main session, economists from all over the world shared their latest academic insights in areas such as consumer search and price competition, price discrimination and market segmentation in duopoly, designing open source licenses. We have invited well-known speakers such as Prof. Xianwen SHI from University of Toronto, Prof. Kim Sau Chung from Hong Kong Baptist University, Prof. Junjie ZHOU from National University of Singapore, Prof. Xi WENG from Peking University. The PhD session was initially set this year, inviting six PhD students from the School of Economics to present their research output.
The International Conference on Industrial Economics has already been built into a high-end branded academic event of the School of Economics, recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education . In the future, the organizing committee aim to utilize the conference as a tool, build a broader communication and collaboration platform for domestic scholars to connect with international scholars, promoting prosperous development of domestic industrial economics discipline.
